The HP CP3525 color laser printer and CM3530 color MFP were introduced in the Fall of 2008. Each listed a monthly duty cycle of 75,000 pages and printed 30 pages per minute (ppm) in both color and black-and-white printing. The Canon^® version, the Color imageRUNNER^® LBP-5460 followed in August 2009.

The CP3525 family all-in-one cartridges ship with a complex molded removable shipping protector covering the OPC instead of the drum shutter found in earlier cartridges. There is no visible seal or pull tab on the cartridge exterior. Instead, the seal is located internally and pulled like that on the HP 4730.

Introductory cartridges that ship installed in the printers are physically the same as the low yield replacement versions, but filled with less toner. By installing Static Control's low yield chip and the proper toner load an introductory cartridge can be used as a low yield SKU.
